Wat Phra Phai Luang

Viharn and Chedi

In front of these prangs, are a viharn and a crumbled chedi. The chedi has a pedestal decorated with stucco seated Buddha images, most of them badly damaged. A mondop contains sitting, reclining, standing and walking Buddha images, now all in ruins. A Shivalingam was once unearthed in the compound.

Prangs

Surrounded by a moat, this temple used to be a Khmer Brahmin shrine but was later converted into a Buddhist monastery. In Sukhothai, it is second in importance to Wat Mahathat. Inside are three Khmer prangs. The southern and the central prangs have crumbled, leaving only the northern one which is decorated with stucco figures. On one of the pediments, the Buddha is depicted preaching to his disciples.
