Wat Sra Sri

"The detail , balance and harmony of the proportions and decoration of Wat Sra Sri, and the beauty of the area where stands, bear witness to the unusual and refined aesthetic sense of the architects of the Sukhothai Period."
Achille Clarac

Wat Sra Sri is on an island in the middle of the Trapang Trakan pond. Behind the viharn, which is dominated by a stucco Buddha image, is a Sinhalese chedi.

Full of simplicity, yet possessing a fluid grace and a powerful spiritual sense is the Sukhothai Buddha. This one at Wat Sra Sri is a good example of the Sukhothai Buddha.

Heralded as the finest of all Thai Buddha images, the Sukhothai walking Buddha strides between heaven and earth. This walking Buddha is within the compound of Wat Sra Sri.
