The
highlight of this temple is the square mondop. Each of the four walls of
the mondop has a niche containing beautiful stucco reliefs. The southern
niche portrays Buddha flanked by angels descending from Tavatimsa Heaven.
In the western niche, the Buddha is depicted preaching to his father and
relatives. The northern niche depicts the Buddha's return to preach to
his wife. These stucco reliefs, especially those in the southern niche,
are considered masterpieces of Sukhothai art.
